It's not to be

Adrienne restarted the MGCD yesterday along with IV hydration. Her cystitis symptoms started within a few hours and have gotten progressively worse today so that she's taking Vicodin every 2-3 hours and passing tissue in her urine. We just hope that it doesn't escalate to the level it was before with large blood clots. It's like when you have a cut and it scabs over, then you do something to knock the scab off. Needless to say, she won't be continuing on the trial. We don't have any plans yet but hope that she can take a few months off to recuperate before starting another trial.

We had another scare today with Prince who's been a bit lethargic, not eating for a few days. We took him to the vet (they're open on the weekends) and at first it looked like he had a big tumor in his liver. Now it's looking like a cyst but we won't know for sure until the pathology is back on Monday. We're hoping that this can just be drained, but it's quite large, doubling the size of his liver and pushing on his stomach, poor boy. The vet wanted to keep him for IV hydration but we decided to bring him home because we thought he'd be happier here. He ate a little bit tonight though we're having trouble getting fluids into him. At least he doesn't seem to have any pain.

Here's Prince (on the left) and Caesar. Prince is 12 years old now but still walks 3 miles most days.

Oh no! So sorry to hear both about Adrienne and the doggie! =(
I sure hope that Adrienne starts to feel better very soon and then you can enjoy some "recovery time" until you determine the next step.
Thinking of you guys!

Darn -- Hopefully Adrienne starts to feel better quick. At least there has been some reduction in the Hodge load, so some time off to regroup and recuperate might be in the cards.

Poor Prince - how old is he?

Bah humbug to this weekend, huh?

Awww Alison - I'm so sorry to read this. I hope by now that the cystitis is starting to resolve itself again and that the pain subsides.

Here's to another plan - my thoughts are very much with you both..........and poor Prince :(

Here's to a better week this week.........Vx

DRATS!..and that's putting my thoughts in print nicely!! So sorry Adrienne had problems so quickly even with the extra percautions. Glad she got another dose in her system to fight back anything still there now that she won't be getting any more. Just hope that the problems don't escalate over the next through days. Sorry Adrienne : {
((HUGS)) from us all as always.

Awww, I'm sorry that you had to stop this trial. The cystitis sounds very painful.

Take it easy and rest up for your next step.

So not the news we were all hoping to read this week. I hope that the cystitis has resolved itself, and Adrienne is more comfortable.

Best to you all as you work out the next step. Hope Prince the Dog is better as well. It was nice to hear from you on Clare's site too . . . still chugging along.
