Disseminated Candida

So, it looks like Adrienne has Candida (yeast) pretty much everywhere: lungs, urine, and blood. This could also be causing the GI issues and the new findings on the chest CT. No chemo until this is resolved and it could take time. This is a normal fungus that we all have but it can become disseminated in immunosuppressed people. This is serious (as if everything else isn't serious?) so we'll just hope/pray that the antibiotics can do their job.

Oh my gosh, one thing after another. Hope the antibiotics can kick this out. Everything I am sure is serious at this point. Praying for healing throughout her body.

Away this weekend with a weak internet connection but thinking and praying for you. I know the obstacles keep appearing, but take heart that you are doing everything possible to beat them back.

No place lonelier than the ICU, even though you're never alone. Hoping for better news for you & Adrienne.

Argh - sorry to read this Alison. Hopefully antifungals will kick in and get some control of this. It would certainly explain the lung situation....

Love and hugs,
Kathy

So there is a fungus among us. Hopefully the antifungals will take care of all that. I thought about Adrienne today as I lay in the ER chilling. This is my second visit to the doc for an upper resp infection. Ive been hacking up my lungs for days. I have a node in my chest that is misbehaving and showing up on xray, but Dr O said he totally expected that considering how sick Ive been. Im still praying for Adrienne daily, and shes gonna come out of this!

Praying for another miracle of speedy infection resolution so she could do chemo. Her body is amazing combating so many things at once and beating out all the odds -- no matter the outcome, she is and always will be our hero!

Much love and lots of hugs to both of you!

My goodness....hate seeing another obstacle cross Adrienne's path. Hope the treatment kicks the Candida's butt clear out of her quickly so the all important chemo can get started!! Glad her counts were up to help fight this off too. Always on our minds and in my hearts.

I am trying to find a bright side and can only come up with this....I am thankful that the doctors have identified the problem and there is a treatment for it. Aside from that, I imagine you must be very frustrated at the non-stop, ever-changing problems to be solved. Let's pray that everything else will fall into place as this problem is corrected. Thinking of you.

Oh, mercy. I'm not only praying for the meds to kick this, but also for some respite of good news and health for Adrienne and your family. In the midst of taking care of Adrienne, please take care of yourself, Alison. We love you.

Alison, As a pp commented at least the doctors now have identified the problem and can start a course of treatment. I realize this is a serious condition but remember she has proven how tough she is in the past. As long as she is fighting there is hope.

it's just so much to take in. i am surprised that a fungal infection was not on the table as soon as it was evident that the chemo had reduced the nodes in the lungs but her breathing wasn't improved. hopefully antifungal antibiotics can do their job and clean up Adrienne's lungs. you poor pussycats need a break and your lives back. i am praying for restored health.
