Adrienne was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease in 1996 at age 9. She had multiple relapses, two bone marrow transplants, and a range of chemos and radiation therapies, and passed away on October 1, 2009. We are heartbroken.

oh no. i'm so sorry to hear this. please keep us updated. lots of love and prayers.
Damn! Hang in there both of you.
So sorry for Adrienne and you.....keep reminding yourself that it will allow her to get the ox2 and the rest she needs. she will be more comfortable than the Bipap but not communicating is sad. keep track of the respri-therapist - make sure they have a plan to wean her off; check with them daily. note: too much sedation means patient unable to come off vent; can take 3-4 days for the sedation to wear off enough for patient to breathe on own
Alison. I am so sorry to hear this. I am still praying for you both

Alison,
Hang in there. Trust your RT's... they know what they are doing. REmember what I said about the NO2 if the time comes... it will likely buy some more valuable time to get treatments done. don't give up on communication.. I have 30+ pages of notes from conversations Pat and I had while he was intubated. I am still praying hard for you two.

I'm so sorry - wish it wasn't necesssary but hopefully it will be just what she needs to get through this. Lots of prayers your way - thinking of you and Adrienne all day.
Alison and Adrienne,
I haven't posted since Friday, but I wanted to let you know that I've been following your updates and pulling for you with all my heart. I hope the chemo knocks this thing back down and Adrienne gets back to breathing without difficulty very soon. All my love, Janet
Hope they didn't have to intubate this time! Sending lots of loving prayers your way that this evening will lead to a better tomorrow.

hi adrienne & alison --
good to know you'll get that precious o2 with intubation. but sorry they have to intubate -- not a pleasant thing to go through. hope the procedure goes well and quickly and that the ativan makes it all a bit more bearable for you. fingers crossed you'll be breathing again on your own in no time and texting me about the latest episodes of top chef las vegas! (it's las vegas!!!! you must want to watch this season -- though can't believe there's only one new yorker in this time).
my love and prayers and always,

Get the rest you need, Adrienne, and let the GND kick this crap back into touch.
Alison, remember we're awake when the US is asleep so if you need to chat, shout, scream or whatever you just need to call.
Love always,
Wullie and Veronica. xo
Hope it's just temporary setback. I don't know much about intubation, but understand from comments that she'll be more comfortable. I'm praying and hoping GND will work.
Love, as always, Marsha
I hate to see this - I know Adrienne really didn't want intubation. But, as others have said, hopefully this less than desirable step will lead to very desirable results. I continue to think about you guys constantly and send my love.

Thinking of you all; hoping this helps Adrienne and that it is a very temporary measure.

We love you, Adrienne! We are all thinking of you and Alison, Curt, and Daniel constantly.
Just let that GND do its thing. We are praying for a speedy recovery! Hopefully she wont have to be intubated long. We love you guys!
Hope the night time was peaceful for you both and that if they intubated Adrienne that's she comfortable and will get some rest. Thinking of you constantly and have asked many friends to keep you in their prayers.
Sending loving ((HUGS)

Thinking about you on this hard course, and I hope news is better today. Hoping the vent can let her lungs recover a bit so you can work on getting her back to where she needs to be.

I'm back from a work weekend and have been praying and thinking about you two constantly..........just wanted to add myself back into the mix - hoping there has been some kind of improvement today...........Vx
Alison and Adrienne,
I'm sorry that they're having to intubate but, it sounds like they're doing whatever they can to help keep Adrienne as comfortable as possible.
I'm thinking about and saying prayers for both of you.
I'll keep checking in.
I love you guys...
Sandy
